For as long as I can remember, books have been my escape, my inspiration, and my way of connecting to the world around me. Every story opens a door to new ideas, new places, and new perspectives. Reading reminds me just how talented and imaginative people can be — and I wanted to create a space that celebrates that.
That’s how What the Plot was born.
A Creative Outlet
In my day-to-day work, I thrive on structure and deadlines, but I also craved a space where I could let creativity take the lead. Writing reviews, sharing book lists, and diving into discussions about characters and plots gives me that outlet. What the Plot is where I get to pour my thoughts onto the page in a way that feels fun, expressive, and deeply personal.
Building Community
Loving books is something best shared. I wanted to create more than just a bookshelf or a review site — I wanted to create a community. A place where fellow readers can laugh about plot twists, cry over characters, and feel understood in their love of stories. Books are better when they bring us together, and my hope is that this space becomes a hub for genuine connection.
Trying Something New
Starting What the Plot also came from my desire to push myself outside the boundaries of what I normally do. It’s a chance to learn, to try new things, and to grow in a completely different direction. It’s equal parts exciting and terrifying, but that’s what makes it worthwhile.
Giving Back
Yes, I hope that over time this project covers the cost of the books I read and share. But even more importantly, any money I earn through this platform, I want to funnel into a charity in my area. Reading has given me so much — joy, perspective, empathy — and I want to use this venture as a way to give back in a meaningful way. Currently I have made .40!
Why It Matters
At its heart, What the Plot is about more than reviews. It’s about celebrating the magic of stories, highlighting the incredible talent of authors, and building a community of readers who understand the transformative power of books.
If you’ve ever finished a novel and wanted to shout about it to someone who “gets it,” then this space is for you. I’m so grateful you’re here, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
"Here’s to turning pages, building community, and making a difference — one book at a time."
